About Studio
Kinkou?
Based in rural Leicestershire, Studio Kinkou was created as a place to explore traditional Japanese crafts. The studio is situated in converted stables in the grounds of Wolvey Hall, a Grade II listed building, with extensive gardens and it's a beautiful place to spend the day and learn a new skill.
The studio is run by me, Lucy, and it's where you will find me most days. I've had a career spanning over 25 years in the arts with a specific interest in Japanese art and culture. This led to a fascination with Japanese ceramics and now I enjoy creating unique hand built and decorative pieces that are inspired by traditional Japanese techniques with a specific interest in Kurinuki.
I hold a variety of workshops, including Kintsugi repair, Yunomi cup carving, and Dorie Bell making. Also I facilitate drop in classes and events throughout the year, covering a range of skills, where you can be freely expressive and produce something quirky and unusual.
The studio also offers a full Kintsugi repair service and commission pieces or requests are always welcome.
